I find myself with a lot of time on my hands lately. In an effort to fill that time, I have enrolled in a glass blowing class through the Art Center of Battle Creek. It meets Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8pm, and it runs for six weeks. Today was the first day. Holy crap, glass blowing is fun! Frustrating at first, trying to figure out how hot to run the flame, how to control the heat (a mix of gas and oxygen), how to hold the glass rod, how to move it, is it hot enough, whoops I blew too hard and now it's lop-sided. Last week I lost my job at a public access tv station. I knew a few months in advance that it was going to happen (my position was funded by a grant that ran out), so I started the job hunt pretty early. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to secure a position, so now I find myself unemployed. The outlook is pretty bleak for recent television production grads. Which is why I've decided to take the Michigan government up on its offer and head back to school for some more training, to expand my skillset. I'm currently working on my FAFSA (frustrating!), and I just sent in an application for Kellogg Community College. My plan is to get a web design
